Vitalio Zuniga, 70, of Edinburg, TX, passed away on January 9, 2023 at Edinburg Regional Medical Center. Vitalio was born on October 1, 1952. He was a proud US Army and National Guard veteran of over 20 years, serving in the Vietnam Era and in Desert Storm. He loved his family, tejano music, westerns, fishing and being outside on his ranch.
Vitalio is preceded in death by his father, Guadalupe Zuniga, his beloved wife, Sylvia Zuniga, and his daughter, Erica Zuniga. He is survived by his mother, Maria Guadalupe Zuniga; four sisters, San Juana (Ricardo †)Salazar, Maria Luisa Gonzalez, Susana (Abel) Losoya, and Gracie Zuniga; five brothers, Santiago (Maria Alicia †)Zuniga, Guadalupe Jr. (Julia) Zuniga, Santos (Aracely) Zuniga, Adan Zuniga, and David Zuniga; his children, Sylvia (Victor) Yado, America (Sergio) Rodriguez, and Elsica (Jason Sullivan) Zuniga; his grandchildren, Eric Zuniga, Sofia Rodriguez, Sergio Rodriguez, Alexa Yado, Sebastian Rodriguez, Ryan Sullivan, and Katherine Sullivan; and numerous family and friends.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9pm on Friday, January 13, 2023 at De Leon Funeral Home of Pharr. Rosary at 7pm. Funeral mass will be at 10am on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Pharr. Burial will follow at Guadalupe Cemetery in Pharr where the American Legion Post 101 of Pharr will conduct military service.
