Vicenta “Chentita” as her loved ones knew her, passed away peacefully in her home in Edinburg on Thursday, April 2nd, 2026.

Chentita was a proud mother of 10 children, 5 sons & 2 daughters (2 on earth and 3 in heaven). 

She is survived by her children, Ernestina Torres, Roge (Karen) Torres, Jorge Torres, Jaime (Teresa) Torres, Javier (Mary) Torres, Joel (Katy) Torres, Marybel (Mike) Torres. 14 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren & one great great grandchild, last but not least, her baby sister, Corita Salinas & baby brother Mario Salinas—all of which she loved with her entire heart. 

Chentita lived a very long life. Just 3 days shy of her 94th birthday. She faced heartbreak more than most but it never made her weaker or harder, instead it made her stronger & more loving toward those she cared for. 

Chentita will be missed for many reasons. Her laughter. Her smile. Her hugs. Her love. But her family finds peace in knowing she is reunited with her loved ones whom she missed for far too long. Chentita’s legacy will live on through those she leaves behind. 

Visitation will be from 4pm to 9pm with a 6pm rosary on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at De Leon Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 10am on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at St. Anne Catholic Church in Pharr. Burial will follow at San Juan Cemetery. The family asks that anyone joining for the services to avoid wearing black & honor Chentita by wearing vibrant, beautiful colors as a reflection of her life & love.
