Ramiro Garcia, 87, went to rejoice with the Lord on May 6, 2023. He was a loving and supportive husband, father, uncle, friend, future grandpa, and a man devoted to his faith.
Ramiro was born on March 4, 1936 in Pharr, Tx. After a few years in high school, he joined the US Army and later joined the Airforce where he served in the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, he earned his GED and took advantage of the G.I. Bill to attend UTPA in Edinburg. After graduating from the University, Ramiro began working as a middle school teacher with the Donna School District. After 30 years of teaching he retired and till this day was still loved, remembered and recognized by his former students where ever he went. After retirement, he enjoyed being out with his wife, taking his daughter and son in law out to lunch, attending daily mass, and working outside in the garden.
Ramiro is survived by his wife, Diana Garcia, daughter, Jessica Marie (Juan) Berrones, his future grandson, Mateo, and his dog Lucy Lu. He loved his nieces and nephews Sylvia Ficker, Eloy Garcia, Delia Garcia Solis, Edgar Garcia, Diana Villarreal, and Eric Garcia.
Ramiro was known as a kind and gentle man who was loved dearly by his family, neighbors, church community, former coworkers and anyone who met him. He had a genuine smile that always made you feel like everything was going to be okay. He couldn't wait till September to meet his future grandson.
We would like to thank Fr. Paul Roman for his prayers and support during his time in the hospital.
Visitation will be from 3 pm to 9 pm with a 6 pm Rosary on Wednesday, May 10 at De Leon Funeral Home in Pharr, Tx. A funeral mass will be said at 9:30 am Thursday, May 11 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Pharr, TX. Interment will follow at 11 am at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery 2520 Inspiration Rd. in Mission, Tx.
