Pharr/Edinburg- Maria Guadalupe Zuniga, 98, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 13, 2023, at her residence in Edinburg, Texas. Born in Edinburg, Mrs. Zuniga had lived most of her life in Pharr. She was a devoted housewife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guadalupe Zuniga “El Porron”; her parents, Juan Ramos and Maria Candelaria Y. Ramos; her children, Venancio Zuniga, Juan Teodoro Zuniga, Ignacio Zuniga, Raquel Sanchez (Edelmiro), and Vitalio Zuniga (+Sylvia); grandchildren, Frank Luna, Francisco Luna, Jr. (Martha), Erica Zuniga, Samuel Zuniga, and Matthew Zuniga; 6 sisters; and 7 brothers.

She is survived by 9 children, Santiago Zuniga (+Maria Alicia), San Juana Salazar (+Ricardo), Susana Losoya (Abel), Maria L. Gonzalez, Santos Zuniga (Araceli), Guadalupe Zuniga, Jr. (Alma Julia), David Armando Zuniga, Adan Zuniga, and Gracie Zuniga; sister, Beatriz Ramirez (+Herman); 33 grandchilden, 59 greatgrandchildren, 12 great-great-granchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at De Leon Funeral Home of Pharr from 4pm to 9pm with a rosary to be recited at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Pharr at 10am with Father Joe Losoya to officiate mass and funeral services. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Cemetery in Pharr under the direction of De Leon Funeral Home of Pharr.

Pallbearers are Johnny Joe Luna, Manuel Luna, Brandon Corneliusen, Abel Losoya, Jr., Santiago Zuniga, Jr., and Juan Ramos; and honorary pallbearer, Jason Sullivan.
